NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, AND WASHINGTON ADVERTISER, Washington City, May 4, 1801 Just above the dateline is: "Washington City, Printed By Samuel Harrison Smith, New-Jersey Avenue, Near The Capitol." A brief news items on pg. 2 says: "Arrived on Friday JAMES MADISON, Secretary of State." Pg. 2 also has: "Census Of Columbia, On the Eastern side of Potowmac" and an ad headed: "For Sale, A Youn Negro Girl..." Has various ads for sale of lots and property in the Washington. A volume I issue. Ftpg. has a red ink stamp just to the right of the masthead, and the same stamp in the blank upper margin of pg. 3, occasional foxing.
