This 8 page newspaper is in nice condition due to the use of cotton and rag paper during this very historic time in U.S. history. This issue is loaded with advertisements and Civil War reports throughout from the day it was first reported which includes the following FRONT PAGE Map: "THE MOVEMENTS OF GEN. BURNSIDE, map Showing the Relation of Suffolk to Norfolk and Portsmouth, and the Railroads Radiating thereform, also, the Bearing of the Chowan River, the Town of Winton, and Other Points of Present Interest"
Also includes the following headlines: "IMPORTANT FROM FORTRESS MONROE" "Gen. Burnside Advancing Against Norfolk" "The Rebel Steamer Merrimac" "OPERATIONS IN THE WEST" "Reported Retreat to Decatur, Alabama" "Capture of Leesburg by Colonel Geary" and much more. Nice to read about the Civil War as it was happening.
