THE BOSTON POST, Massachusetts, January 20, 1947
* Black Dahlia report from near her hometown
The rather bold & dramatic headlines on the front page announce: "TRIP PLANNED BY SLAIN GIRL", this being the case of Elizabeth Short, who grew up in Medford, Mass., a suburb of Boston, hence the reason for the dramatic front page report rarely found in any other newspapers of the day with the possible exception of Los Angeles newspapers.
Various related subheads iinclude: "Reveal Elizabeth Short Sought to Get Information for Alaska Journey--Withg Red-Haired Man When She Asked Facts--Was Day Before Murder, Witness Says--Gave Her Name" "Police Find Auto Resembling One in Which Victim Was Last Seen by Friend" "Net Spread Over California for 'Red', Still Called No. 1 Suspect in Probe" "Detains Man Who Had Date With Girl". The report carries over to page 8 where there is a photo of Elizabeth Short, captioned: "Slain Girl In Happier Days", plus a photos of her mother, Mrs. Phoebe Short.
This case has much renewed interest with the release of the new Brian DePalma movie. This still unsolved murder case is considered as being the "first media-manufactured murder" as noted by James Elroy, the author of the book.
This is the complete 20 page issue and is in very nice, clean condition.
