November 23, 1916

THE TIMES PICAYUNE, New Orleans, Louisiana, November 23, 1916.

* Jack London, American novelist, death in original report - great, unique gift idea

This 16 page newspaper has a three line, one column headline: "CALL OF THE WILD FOR JACK LONDON" with subhead: "Famous Writer Dies on Ranch in California After Brief Illness" and a nice one column photo of the noted novelist. Other news of the day with ads throughout. Somewhat browned with little margin wear, otherwise good.

Historical Background: Jack London, probably born John Griffith Chaney (January 12, 1876November 22, 1916)[4][5][6] was an American author who wrote The Call of the Wild and over fifty other books. A pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction, he was one of the first Americans to make a huge financial success from writing.
