CALEDONIAN MERCURY, Edinburgh, Scotland, June 6, 1745 A front page report from Philadelphia says: "...we learn, that the Island of St. Martin was taken by 7 Sail of French Privateers; and that Admiral Davers...arrived with the Fleet from England... ordered the Privateers that were there to go with some of the Men of War to retake it."
