On page 3 under "Base Ball" is a summary and box score (see photos) of a game played at Hoboken between the Knickerbocker and Eagle clubs. The summary has general details about the match and mentions that: "A great many visitors were on the ground to witness the sport." Note the use of the phrase  "the sport" which seems to suggest that baseball was still a novelty. In addition to listing the names of the pitchers,  the summary also has the names of the "behind man" for each team, which was an early name for the catcher. Also named in the summary are the "Judge" and the umpire. The box score has the names of the players for each team, plus the number of runs scored by each player. Just below the box score are the number of runs scored per inning. Early for baseball, especially with a box score. A bit irregular at the spine, otherwise in very good condition.
