NEW YORK WEEKLY TRIBUNE, March 9, 1850.
* Mormons demand to have their own State
* Early Jefferson Davis
* Mexican War
Page 2 has an interesting early Mormon item in an article headed: "New Mexico and Texas" which begins:
* "Again: It is known to you that the Mormons have formed a Republican Constitution, sent it to Washington & are preparing to send two Senators & a Representative to Congress & will demand admission as a state--claiming the Sierra Madras as the line between New Mexico and the State of Deseret..." with more (see photos).
Page 2 also has a letter which is signed: Jeff. Davis, concerning the Mexican War. Rare to find a Jeff Davis signed letter in a newspaper ten years before the Civil War.
Page 4 has an article concerning California with heads & subheads: "Two Weeks Later From California" "Sacramento City Overflowed--Great Suffering among the People--Difficulty with the Chilians, etc."
Eight pgs., some light foxing, mostly very nice.
