THE PENNSYLVANIA JOURNAL & THE WEEKLY ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, Sept. 5, 1781  The entire ftpg. and a bit of pg. 2 are taken up with: "The Life and Character of General Arnold, extracted from the new History of the American Revolution" which is a fascinating & detailed account of this infamous character from the war. It includes in part: "...It is to be lamented that a character & crimes like General Arnold's have not been marked by the universal consent of nations, with such a degree of contempt & infamy as to exterminate them from the list of human productions...But a code of natural & national jurisprudence favourable to the interests of justice & humanity cannot be expected, while Britain maintains her present usurpations in the republic of Europe...". In addition to the conclusion of the Benedict Arnold article, the balance of pg. 2 contains many other reports on the Revolutionary War, one report including: "...The rebel army under the command of Gen. Washington left their encampment at the White Plains last Monday & we hear some of the continental troops are gone up the North River..." with so much more. Included is a list of the British ships of war. The war coverage continues on pg. 3 as well. Included is a proclamation by a British officer in Charleston to offer a reward to anyone discovering any rebels supplying or aiding the patriot cause. He also offers freedom to Negro slaves providing such information. There are also various items on the battles in the Carolinas, mentioning Frances Marion, Col. Sumpter, General Greene, Lord Rawdon among others. The bkpg. is taken up with ads including one by the one of the more notable backers of the patriot cause, Haym Salomon, also a prominent Jew (see photos).  Complete in 4 pgs., very handsome & ornate engraving in the masthead, several institutional black-ink arrows in margins to note special content (see) not touching any text. In great condition. A terrific issue with a great wealth of Revolutionary War reporting.
