May 30, 1862

THE NEW YORK TIMES, May 30, 1862

* Long before the Monitor & Merrimac

Although the front page and inside pages have various Civil War reports, the most intriguing aspect of this issue is the rather large back page illustration--actually two prints--headed: "THE FIRST IRON-CLAD. Representation of the Armored Vessel, Patented by Thomas Gregg, of Pennsylvania, in 1814." with descriptive text as well (see).
It is not surprising this content is in this issue as interest in ironclad ships was recently resurrected with the battle between the Monitor & the Merrimac a few months prior.
Complete in 8 pages,  nice condition.
