* Racehorse Illustration

* Baseball
* Chess
* Cricket

As noted in the masthead: "A Chronicle of the Turf, Field Sports, Literature and the Stage", this is a volume 1 issue of a very early sporting publication.

The front page of this issue features an illustration of the racehorse "Wild Irishman".

Near the front of the issue is a report headed: "Base-Ball", which includes the following subheads: "Base Ball Sketches No. 6", "Substitutes in Matches", "Osceola vs. Orientals", "Sylvan Base Ball Club", and much more.  The box scores of several games can also be found on page 196.  This is quite an early report for baseball, as any baseball reports before the Civil War are very uncommon.

This issue also has other sporting reports including boxing (Fistiana), Equestrianism, cricket, chess, & horseracing. Complete in 16 pages, an ornate sports-themed masthead can also be found on the front page.  Although generally in good condition, some generally dirtiness can be found throughout.
