THE DETROIT NEWS, Michigan, February 3, 1957

* Charles Van Doren wins $122,000 in quiz show "scandal"
* Elizabeth Taylor, movie actress, marries Mike Todd

The very top of the front page has a six column headline: "$122,000 Winner Shakes Destiny's Dice", and the top of the first two columns is a photo captioned: "TV Champ Faces Quiz Music - Charles Van Doren Relaxes Before Test".

Van Doren was the contestant who--just 8 days later--would make national headlines by winning $129,000 in the quiz show "Twenty-One". Although he initially denied being fed the answers which allowed him to win, a few years later he testified before Congress and admitted to his involvement in the scandal that would make national attention.

In 1994 Robert Redford directed the movie titled "Quiz Show" which was about this very scandal, with Van Doren played by Ralph Fiennes.

Also, the bottom of the front page has a small one column headline: "Liz Taylor, Todd Wed In Mexico".

Other news of the day throughout. Some small binding holes along the spine and light browning at the margins, otherwise good.
