March 18, 1959

HONOLULU STAR BULLETIN, Hawaii, March 18, 1959  The banner headline across the top of the front page--in red ink--reads: "President Signs Statehood Bill" with a photo of Eisenhower doing just that. The subhead reads: "Swift Action Would Allow Hawaii To Enter the Union by Next July" with other related subheads both on the front page and inside.
Nice to have this significant report in a Hawaii newspaper. 2009 marks the 50th anniversary of this great event, with Hawaii being the last state to join the union.
Typical wear and edge tears at the margins. An archival mend has been done to the reverse side of the unrelated King Hussein print (see image). The issue appears to have only one section, which is complete in 22 pages.
