THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, England, June, 1827  In the "Obituary" section of the "Supplement" is a report about the death of "Beethoven". The report, dated March 31, begins: "At Vienna, Aged 57, Ludwig Von Beethoven, the far-celebrated German composer." Obviously has much about his career, the report concludes: "...For many years Beethoven laboured under the affliction of severe deafness; latterly he had a confirmed dropsy. In the their neglect of living genius the feelings of the Germans appear to assimilate too closely with those of their brethren the English; for, although Beethoven was allowed to languish and expire in poverty, his remains were honoured with a splendid and ostentatious funeral."
Other news of the day throughout. Measures 5 by 8 inches, 164 pages, disbound, has a full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate.
