THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, May 16, 1765
* Bees: very early newspaper ad for curative powers of honey
A very early newspaper from the year of the Stamp Act, with various news of the day and a great wealth of ads.
Among the ads is one headed: "Pectoral Balsam of Honey" promoted as a cure for "...colds, coughs, asthmas, consumptions, and catarrhs, invented by Dr. Hill..." with a testimonial as to its effects (see photos).
Complete as an 8 page newspaper, measures about 8 1/2 by 11 inches. Very nice, clean condition.
There is a partial red-inked tax stamp at the bottom of page 2 which is interesting given that this newspaper was printed during the year of the Stamp Act placing a tax on such newspapers in the American colonies (see photos).
