THE NEW YORK TIMES, November 22, 1940
* Superman debuts in New York City
* Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The top of page 18 has one column heads reading: "SUPERMAN STRUTS IN MACY PARADE", "His 23-Foot Chest and 8-Foot Smirk Delight the Throngs Lining Sidewalks" and more with a nice four column photo of the famous balloon floating through Times Square during the parade. Also another photo shows children standing along the street.
This was the debut of Superman and to this day is still considered the largest balloon ever to be part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Great to have in this famous New York City title.
Complete in 40 pages. This is the "rag edition" done on very high quality newsprint for institutional holdings, requiring paper that would last for centuries. Quite white and in great condition.
