December 31, 1881

LEADVILLE WEEKLY DEMOCRAT, Colorado, Dec. 31, 1881  Leadville has the distinction of being the highest incorporated city in the United States, sitting at an elevation above 10,000 feet.
It was a classic "Old West" mining town and this issue is a treasure trove of illustration of Leadville as it was in 1881. The entire ftpg. is taken up with 11 prints of various buildings in town, pages 8 & 9 have an additional 19 prints (see), and the bkpg. has yet another 16 prints (see). The remainder of this 18 page issue is filled with various articles espousing the beauty, bounty, and benefits of the area with much on local industry & mining.
A complete issue, never bound nor trimmed, rubbing to the ftpg. causes a few very small holes, mild wear to the edges, some blue pencil marks throughout (erasable) do not distract from readability.
A very rare issue and exceedingly graphic providing an excellent presentation of Leadville from its heyday.
