March 20, 1863

THE NEW YORK HERALD, March 20, 1863

* Yazoo Pass, Mississippi
* Deep Gully, North Carolina
* Port Hudson, Louisiana

This genuine newspaper has a wealth of Civil War reporting from during Abraham Lincoln's administration. The front page has a nice map titled: "THE YAZOO PASS EXPEDITION". The back page has a map titled: "THE ATTACK ON PORT HUDSON".

Among the one column headlines on the Civil War are: "THE YAZOO EXPEDITION" "The Revel Loss" "Important from North Carolina" "Affair at Deep Gully Between the Union and Ebel Forces" "Surprise of the Rebels" "PORT HUDSON" "The Rebel Despatches and What They Set Fourth" "A Battle Expected Near Tullahoma, Tenn."  and more.

Complete in eight pages. This issue is not fragile as newsprint from this era was made of cotton and linen rags, allowing them to remain very pliable and easy to handle. Minor foxing, otherwise in nice condition.
