* Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
* Hole-in-the-wall-Gang
* Wilcox train robbery
The back page has an uncommonly lengthy report concerning the infamous "Hole-In-The-Wall" gang, which included among its members Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.
The report is headed: "BATTLES WITH ROBBERS" "Sheriff Hazen Killed While Attempting a Capture" "The Outlaws Hotly Pursued" "After Making Two Desperate Stands the Train Robbers Escape; in the Darkness on Stolen Horses--Their Ultimate Capture Assured" (see photos).
This report relates to the follow-up to the Wilcox, Wyoming, train robbery in which the gang blew up the car to gain access to the safe's contents. Those who have seen the popular movie "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" from 1969, staring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, can well remember the somewhat comic scene of this train robbery. The report begins: "A second battle with the dynamiters of the Union Pacific express train has been fought in the mountains 40 miles north of Casper by the sheriff's posse..." and near the end it notes: "...They stole the horses of a freighting outfit and fled for the Hole-in-the-Wall..." with a bit more (see).
Complete in four pages, a bit irregular at the spine margin with minor loss & a few edge tears, otherwise in great condition.
