September 14, 1901

HEARST'S CHICAGO MORNING AMERICAN, September 14, 1901  This was one of William Randolph Hearst's newspapers from when he dominated the country's newspaper industry. And true to Hearst's style, this is a very dramatic and graphic newspaper, as the very large banner headline proclaims: "THE PRESIDENT IS DEAD" beneath which is a very large photo of William McKinley surrounded by mourning graphics (see). There is much related coverage on the inside pages including much on succeeding President Teddy Roosevelt, with many photos as well.
Complete in 16 pages, minor wear at margins but otherwise in uncommonly nice condition for a newspaper of this vintage. This could well be the most displayable issue we have offered on the death of President McKinley.
