September 26, 1888
THE TIMES, London, England, Sept. 26, 1888
* Jack the Ripper original reporting
* Whitechapel murders - England
* Best title to have in
"Jack the Ripper" reports were common in the latter half of 1888, capturing the interest of people on both sides of the Atlantic as evidenced by the reports in many newspapers in the United States. It was the international "sensation" of the era, and a case which was never conclusively solved. Not surprisingly, issues of the respected "Times" newspaper from London are the most sought after, being the primary source for Jack the Ripper reports.
Page 3 has at the top: "The Whitechapel Murders" which has an interesting letter from a past deputy coroner, portions including: "...the coroner is bound to inquire the nature, character, & size of every wound on a dead body...it is the coroner's duty to explain the effect of the wounds & any appearances there may be...The criminal is probably a person making research from motives of science or curiosity & not a drunken loafer..." with more as to his thoughts (see).
Complete in 16 pages with no fragility problems and in very nice, clean condition.
