SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, New York, July 9, 1870  The front page has both an article and several illustrations on the beginning work of the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most significant engineering achievements of its day and an iconic structure to this day. The article is headed: "Launching of the Great Caisson for the Brooklyn Terminus fo the East River Bridge" which takes all of the ftpg. & nearly half of pg. 2. The ftpg. also features several nice prints on creating the caissons. The bridge would be completed 13 years later at which time it was the largest suspension bridge in the world.
Complete in 16 pages, various other scientific developments, with some prints, on the inside pages.
