November 29, 1939

THE TOPEKA DAILY CAPITAL, Topeka, Kansas, November 29, 1939  On the Sports Page of this newspaper is the report "Naismith, Father of Basketball, Dies at Lawrence (KS)" with a subhead "Invented Cage Sport With Pair of Peach Baskets Back in '91". It was stated that "He opposed a majority of the basketball rules passed since 1925..." "He recalled that during the early days it was the final duty of the team's captain to open the dressing room window before leading the players onto the floor. This was done so that if the customary after-game squabble became too violent both the players and the officials would have an exit."   Other news, sports and advertisement are within the issue as well.

This is complete in fourteen pages with five binding holes in the left spine which does not affect the text, slight browning at edges, otherwise in very good condition. See photos for details.
