VALLEY SENTINEL, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, October 15, 1912
* Theodore Roosevelt assassination attempt
* Teddy Roosevelt shot (1st report)
* 1912 World Series
Page 3 has the first report of the assassination attempt upon (former) President Teddy Roosevelt with two column head: "ROOSEVELT SHOT AT HOTEL IN MILWAUKEE" and one column heads: "Slightly Wounded In the Breast" "Assailant Captured" "Was Prevented From Firing a Second Time" "Is Evidently A Maniac" 'He Issues Incoherent Statement When Arrested" (see images). Included is a one column photo captioned "Theodore Roosevelt". The text begins: "Theodore Roosevelt was shot and slightly wounded here as he was leaving his hotel for the auditorium, where he was to deliver his speech of the evening..." with much more (see images).
Also of interest and on page 3 as well are reports on game five of the 1912 Major League Baseball World Series with one column heads including: "GIANTS BEAT RED SOX, 5 TO 2" "Hit O'Brien For All runs in First Inning" "Ray Collins To Rescue" and more, including text and the box score (see images).
This is the complete issue, usual browning with minor margin wear, otherwise good. Should be handled with care.
