NEW YORK TRIBUNE, New York, March 21, 1911 The front page of this issue contains a one-column headline "Dr. Washington Too Ill To Go To Court" with sub-headlines "Set low Issues Statement for Trustees, Expressing Their Confidence in Him" "Lawyers Hold conference" "injuries Caused by Falls, Not by Blows, Ulrich Says, Who Asserts Negro Educator Hit Him, Then Ran". Booker T. Washington, president of Tuskegee Institute, and Henry A. Ulrich, a dog fancier would possibly be heading toward court unless they would reach an out-of-court settlement. Dr. Washington accused Mr. Ulrich of attaching him while Mr. Ulrich stated that Dr. Washington fell on his head three times while running from him. This is a lengthy article which continues on page three.
Also within this issue is the "Funeral of John B. M'Donald", the builder of the New York subway system. The subway power was shut off and lights darkened for two minutes, every train stopped and every guard reverently removed his hat.
