February 24, 1815

THE YANKEE, Boston, February 24, 1815

One of the best issues we have offered with the printing of the Treaty of Ghent, the treaty which ended the War of 1812. Although the use of large type was not typical in newspapers of this period, this issue is an exception, as the top of page 2 has in very large type: "TREATY RATIFIED.  PROCLAMATION.  JAMES MADISON, President of the United States....Treaty of Peace and Amity between His Britannic Majesty and The United States of America", beneath which is the full text of the Treaty with all eleven articles, and the signatures in type of the principals who signed the document, and at it's conclusion is the signature--in large type--of the President: JAMES MADISON, and the Secretary of State: James Monroe.
A terrific issue, and much more graphic than most of this period. Four pages, scattered foxing, close-trimmed  at the right margin of the back leaf only not affecting any mentioned reports.
