* California Gold Rush
* Great letter from miner
An early report on the California Gold Rush which took off in earnest in 1849. Page 2 has: "California Gold" which takes 3/4 of a column and includes a letter dated from Monterey, Aug. 29, 1848 which begins: "The gold discoveries still continue--every day brings some new deposit to light. It has been found in large quantities on the Sacramento, Yerba River, Feather River, the American Fork..." and much more. A terrific letter. A few other smaller items in this issue relate to the Gold Rush as well.
Four pages, nice condition.
