This is perhaps one of the most famous newspapers of the colonial era, almost entirely because it was printed by Benjamin Franklin. Franklin's imprint only appeared in the Pennsylvania Gazette through 1765, and many issues of this period are found without the imprint as it often appeared on the advertising leaf, commonly thrown away because it contained only ads. This is an issue with the advertising leaf missing so the Franklin imprint is not present. We do, however, include with this issue a copy of the appropriate page from the reference book: "Benjamin Franklin's Philadelphia Printing" by C. William Miller, verifying that Ben Franklin was the printer of this newspapers in 1750.
Page two has reports from Boston and New York as well as one from Halifax mentioning: "The Indians have lately appeared about Pisguit & both Capt. John Rouse & Capt. Philips have had a skirmish from their vessels...the Indians are paid & subsisted as French troops...".
Very handsome masthead, this issue is in excellent condition, 4 pages, and a nice display issue. A very early colonial newspaper, and better yet one published by Benjamin Franklin.
