March 02, 1822
WESTERN MONITOR, Lexington, Kentucky, March 2, 1822 A quite rare & early newspaper from Lexington. Typical news & ads of the day. The front page has a uncommonly detailed "Fifty Dollars Reward" ad for a slave named Jacob (see photos). Most of page 2 is taken up with: "Kentucky Mission" & much of the back page is taken up with advertisements.
Four pages, archivally rejoined at the spine, some tape to flatten creases, ornate masthead, otherwise nice.
