CHRONICLE & NEWS, Allentown, Pennsylvania, Sept. 10, 1924 One of the more sensational trials of the 20th century was that of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, two young, Jewish, & wealthy college students who wanted to commit the perfect crime. This issue has a banner headline proclaiming their sentence: "LIFE SENTENCE FOR LEOPOLD AND LOEB" with a banner subhead: "Justice Caverly Saves Them From Gallows On Account Of Their Youth". There are 3 related photos, and one of the subheads notes: "Young Slayers Also Get Ninety-Nine Years For Kidnapping Robt. Franks" (see).
