February 20, 1812
BOSTON GAZETTE, Massachusetts, February 20, 1812 The front page of this issue features a text-blocked article entitled "The War Worn Soldier" which was in response to an earlier article about Capt. Henry Purkitt (one of the youth participants in the Boston Tea Party) and his removal from an official position. In this article is his official honorable military discharge from serving in the Light Dragoons and signed: G. Washington.
Other news includes reports of communications between the United States and Great Britain, the Capture of Batavia, and other news and many ads, including numerous illustrated ship ads.
This is complete in four pages with a very little damp stain, some scattered lite foxing, a small piece missing at the upper right corner of the first leaf with no loss of text, and an archival mend to the first leaf, otherwise in good condition.
