December 23, 1843
PENNSYLVANIA INQUIRER, Philadelphia, Dec. 23, 1843 It is very difficult to find any coverage of Christmas events prior to the Civil War. Page 2 includes: "Christmas Eve" which begins: "There is no holiday in the year which is looked forward to with so much joyous expectation by the younger portions of the human family, & in Christian counties, as the great Jubilee of Christendom..." with much more (see). Also a poem: "A Christmas Hymn".
Four pages, light damp staining near margins, generally nice.
