This issues carries a banner headline "Suffrage Wins In The State Of Tennessee" with subhead "Ratification of Federal Suffrage Amendment Is Completed Today", "Favorable Action Taken by the Lower House of Tennessee Legislature" and "Amendment Ratified by Senate Last Friday. Vote in the House 50 to 46". Also included is a large photo "Suffrage Workers at Nashville".
The Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits each state and the federal government from denying any citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's sex. It was ratified on August 18, 1920, which is the same date as this newspaper, when Tennessee became the final state needed for a ratification, marking two-thirds of all states to do so.
Great to have this report presented as a banner headline. Complete in 12 pages with binding slits at the spine, some edge tears, otherwise in good condition. This should be handled with care.
