THE NEW YORK TIMES, April 8, 1973

* Secretariat wins Gotham Stakes
* Pre Triple Crown horse races

The front page of the sport's section (inside) has a banner headline: "SECRETARIAT TIES TRACK MARK IN TAKING GOTHAM" with subheads. This is 1st report coverage on Secretariat winning his second race as a three year old. It was the first time in his career that he led wire-to-wire. Great to have in this famous NYC title. I would suspect this to be a very rare issue since Secretariat was not a household name as of yet and there was no reason for anyone to hold on to this particular issue. The reason for the nice report here is because the race took place in New York.

Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in a very thick 200+ page Sunday edition, never bound, minor foxing, generally nice condition.
