November 22, 1963
THE BOSTON GLOBE--EXTRA, Nov. 22, 1963 In bold letters at the very top is: "KENNEDY SLAIN" and "Assassin's Bullet Fells Presient on Dallas Street" with further subheads.
Making this issue a bit of a curiosity is the photo which accompanies the headline, as it shows An applauding John F. Kennedy and a smiling Jackie Kennedy. The photo was obviously planned to accompany another story about their visit to Fort Worth earlier that day but that edition was interrupted to quickly produce this "Extra" with the breaking news of the assassination. The photo was not replaced in the haste of getting the edition on the streets, producing an eerily joyful photo juxtaposed with the somber headline.
Great to have this report in a newspaper from Kennedy's home town. Contains pages 1-38 of 44, the last section of 6 pages apparently lacking. Very nice condition.
