THE SPRINGFIELD UNION, Massachusetts, September 5, 1972
* Mark Spitz wins 7th gold medal
* Munich, Germany Summer Olympics
The sport's section (page 33) has a five column headline:
"'Golden' Spitz Shines Again"
with related photo. (see) Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 48 pages, a little spine wear, otherwise nice.
wikipedia notes: Mark Spitz won seven gold medals at the 1972 Summer Olympics, an achievement only surpassed by Michael Phelps who won eight golds at the 2008 Olympics. Spitz set new world records in all seven events in which he competed, a record that still stands. Since the year 1900, no other swimmer has ever gained so great a percentage of all the medals awarded for Olympic events held in a single Games.
Nice to have in this famous NYC title. Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 60 pages, very minor margin wear, otherwise nice.
