LOS ANGELES TIMES--EXTRA, Aug. 14, 1965  A terrific front page on this terrible chapter in the history of Los Angeles. Reporting on the Watts Riots the two-line banner headline notes: "LOOTING SPREADS !   CITY BLOCK AFIRE" with related subheads plus two large photos showing the destruction and the looting (see).
The Watts Riots was a race riot that took place in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles from August 11 to 17, 1965. The six-day unrest resulted in 34 deaths, 1,032 injuries, 3,438 arrests, and over $40 million in property damage. It was the most severe riot in the city's history until the Los Angeles riots of 1992.
The complete section (of 4) with 20 pages. Some foxing at the fold, minor wear at the margins, nice condition.
