The banner headline in red ink: "CHICAGO GANG FEUD FANNED INTO BLAZE" with subheads: "Ex-Deputy State's Attorney Is Perhaps Fatally Wounded When Ambushed By Gangsters" "Two Notorious Gunmen Killed When Rival Feudists Spray Automobile With Lead from Machine gun; Two Others Limp Away Wounded". The article carries over to page 2 where it notes: "...The dead are Earl Hymie Weiss, notorious gangster and gunman, who was associated with O'Bannion before O'Bannion's assassination, and Paddy Murray, gangster & brother of William Murray...O'Brien was shot five times in the abdomen..." with more (see). Hymie Weiss was an American mob boss who became a leader of the Prohibition-era North Side Gang and a bitter rival of Al Capone. (see hyperlink for more on him)
