November 21, 1848

NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., November 21, 1848  Page 2 of this issue contains a nice piece on the meaning of life: "True Life", which appeared in the History's Newsstand Blog post, "A Life Wasted". Also included are articles with Mormon, Westward Expansion, the Hadley Falls Dam disaster (in current Holyoke, CT), etc. content (see images for details).

Complete in 4 pages; in very nice condition.

Note: The Hadley Falls Dam disaster, in what is currently Holyoke, Connecticut, drew considerable attention in the 19th century. In 1896, a Harper’s Weekly writer reflected, “The engineer took great pride in his work, and when it was finished, and the gates shut down, he is said to have irreverently exclaimed: ‘There! Those gates are shut, and God Almighty himself can not open them!’”
