THE EVANSVILLE DAILY JOURNAL, Indiana, September 28, 1848
* Terrific & early report
* California Gold Rush
Page 2 has a very early & quite lengthy (nearly a column long) article on the California Gold Rush, headed: "The Gold Fever In California" which includes in part: "...large number of the inhabitants were engaged in searching for gold which was found over a large extend of country...more than 1000 people digging & washing for gold...contain vast quantities of gold..." and so much more including talk of the very high prices for everything (see).
The top of pg. 2 has a nice campaign notice: "For President GEN. ZACHARY TAYLOR..." (see).
Four pages, very nice condition.
