The front page includes a 2 column, 2 line head: "Zamperini, Olympic Miler, Is Safe After Epic Survival". This was Louis Zamberini, subject of the film "Unbroken".
The report includes: "Lieut. Louis Zamperini, mile runner in the 1936 Olympics who was given up for dead when he failed to return from a search mission...is on his way home today after an incredible survival of 47 days in a raft, followed by equally incredible cruelties in Japanese prison camps...". The article carries over to take almost half of page 4 which also includes a photo of him headed: "Outraces Death" (see).
