* Little Rock Nine - Elizabeth Eckford
* Negro students - Arkansas
* Central High School
This is a very uncommon issue of a weekly African-American newspaper from the Southwest, as noted on page 2: "The Voice of 60,000 Negroes In Arizona". Better yet is the historic headline on the ftpg: "Negro Youths Show Heroism In Ark. School Integration" which reports the story of the "Little Rock Nine", specifically mentioning in part: "...Negro children braved abuse & serious physical danger to enter, or attempt to enter, schools they have a right to attend. In Little Rock, Ark. the first of nine Negro students who attempted to enter Central High School was Elizabeth Eckford, 15...walked from the bus stop past a jeering mob of about 300 white racists & repeatedly tried to get to the school..." with much more. The article carries over to pg. 8.
Present are pages 1, 2, 7 & 8 of this 8 pages newspaper. Tabloid size, very nice condition. Terrific to have this very historic report in an African-American newspaper.
