The front page has an article headed: "Fearful Flames" "Destructive Forrest Forest Fires in Michigan. Loss of Life and Property" Coverage on the great thumb fire.
Also much on the downward health of President James A. Garfield after being shot on the front page. He would eventually die about 2 weeks later.
