The bkpg. has three Acts of Congress, one for: "...making further provision for the sale of the Public Lands." which reduced the minimum purchase price to $1.25 per acre and the size of the minimum purchase, but also abolished the use of credit. This was the "Public Land Act", supposed to encourage settlers to purchase land, although it was real estate speculators who benefited the most. Signed in type by the President: James Monroe"
