March 06, 1931

THE NEW YORK TIMES, March 6, 1931

* Gandhi-Irwin Pact (1st report)
* Mahatma Gandhi & Lord Irwin
* Round table Conference - India

The front page has one column headings that include: "BRITISH-INDIA TERMS SHOW BOTH YIELDED; PRISONERS GO FREE" "In Exchange for Gandhi Ending Civil Disobedience, Irwin Lifts Recent Restrictions" "20,000 ARE NOW IN JAILS" and more. (see) Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this famous New York City publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 48 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Very nice condition.
