November 24, 1943

THE NEW YORK TIMES, November 24, 1943.

* General George Patton slaps soldier
* World War II - WWII

The front page has a two column heading: "Patton Struck Ailing Soldier, Apologized ti Him and Army" First report coverage continues on page 6 with six column headline: "Patton Struck Shell-Shocked Soldier; Apologized to Him and Army" and photo of Patton. Also a two column heading: "Indiana Family Cites Son's Letter Telling Of Slap and Kick Administered by Patton" Lengthy text. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day with much more on World War II. Complete in 38 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Very nice condition.
