THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 1, 1948.

* Transistor radio demonstrated for the 1st time
* Inconspicuous but historic report

Page 46 has a inconspicuous report within the text under: "The News of Radio" See photos for the text on the 1st report of the invention of the transistor radio. This was the first time this radio was demonstrated. I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. complete in 48 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Small library stamp within masthead, minor spine wear, very nice condition.
