November 25, 1972

DAILY EXPRESS, London, England, November 25, 1972  (outer leaves only)

* Martin Bormann, Hitler's deputy (secretary), found alive in Argentina
* The Vatican and President Juan Peron are said to have been complicit in his escape

The front page has the dramatic full-banner, 3-line heading: "MARTIN BORMANN ALIVE", with subhead: "The Express has the proof and knows exactly where he is living... until this story reaches him", with a large photo showing Bormman and Hitler in 1943. Perhaps coincidentally, about two weeks late, his remains were supposedly discovered in Berlin - and were said to be confirmed as his using DNA testing in 1999. Those who reported on him being found in Argentina in 1972 certainly believed their discovery to be accurate. Is his whereabouts still a mystery? Was the DNA testing decisive? Or, might this be yet another cover-up in an effort for the international community to save face?
The issue contains only pages 1, 2, 23, and 24 - being the outer leaves of the issue. They are in excellent condition - save for a small archival mend to page 2.
Note (Wikipedia): Martin Bormann (17 June 1900 – 2 May 1945?) was a prominent official in Nazi Germany as head of the Parteikanzlei (Nazi Party Chancellery). He gained immense power within the Third Reich by using his position as Adolf Hitler's private secretary to control the flow of information and access to Hitler. Bormann joined a paramilitary Freikorps organization in 1922 while working as manager of a large estate. He served nearly a year in prison as an accomplice to his friend Rudolf Höss (later commandant of Auschwitz concentration camp) in the murder of Walther Kadow. Bormann joined the Nazi Party in 1927 and the Schutzstaffel (SS) in 1937. He initially worked in the party's insurance service, and transferred in July 1933 to the office of Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess, where he served as chief of staff.
