NEW-YORK DAILY TRIBUNE, March 5, 1857 Page 5 has a column-wide headline "The Inauguration". "Washington, Wednesday, March 4, 1857. The procession started for the Capitol about noon. It was very long and presented a beautiful appearance... Messrs. Buchanan and Breckenridge rode in an open carriage, surrounded by the Keystone Club... Mr. Buchanan reached the Capitol about 1 p.m., and proceeded to deliver his Inaugural Address... The oath was administered to Mr. Buchanan after the read of the Inaugural..." The text of the inaugural address then follows.
