THE CHICAGO DAILY NEWS, September 29, 1941

* Ted Williams ends the season above .400
* Boston Red Sox

A doubly nice sports issue, as the ftpg. features a bold, banner headline: "65,000 WILL SEE TITLE BOUT" with a front page photos of Joe Louis & Lou Nova shaking hands at the weigh-in.

But certainly the better report is on the front page of the sports section which has a report of Ted Williams ending the season above .400 (the last ball player to do so; now 68 years ago). The 3 column head near the bottom of the page reads: "Williams Followed Duffy's Advice; Hit .406" and subhead: "Old-Timer Advised Ted to Stay in Lineup; He Did, and How!" with a nice photo showing Ted Williams kissing the bat he used to finish out his season at .406. The photos show the full article.

The complete issue, never bound nor trimmed, some wear at the margins & the central fold with some archival strengthening at the folds. Library stamp in the upper left corner of the front page
