Wayne, with his division."
Under "Philadelphia" is a letter from Gen. Greene about the evacuation of Camden. S.C., by the British. The letter describes the destruction the British left in their wake, plus mention that: "...They left all our men, wounded on the 25th, amounting to thirty-one, and fifty-eight of their own, and three officers, who were all too badly wounded to be removed....Upon the enemy's evacuation, we immediately took possession....Had the Virginia militia arrived in time, the garrison would have fallen into our hands...The detachments below, operating under Gen. Marian, and Lieut. Col. Lee, having cut off their supplies...the garrison was entirely destitute....On the 12th Ft. Motte surrendered to Gen. Marian ....great credit is due to Gen. Marian...in the reduction of this post..." & more, signed in type: Nath. Greene.
